Together,wewilldeterminethecourseofAmericaandtheworldformany,manyyearstocome.Wewillfacechallenges,wewillconfronthardships,butwewillgetthejobdone.

Everyfouryears,wegatheronthesestepstocarryouttheorderlyandpeacefultransferofpower,andwearegratefultoPresidentObamaandFirstLadyMichelleObamafortheirgraciousaidthroughoutthistransition.Theyhavebeenmagnificent.Thankyou.

Todayscapitalhasreapedtherewardsofgovernmentwhilethepeoplehavebornethecost.Washingtonflourished,butthepeopledidnotshareinitswealth.Politiciansprospered,butthejobsleftandthefactoriesclosed.Theestablishmentprotecteditself,butnotthecitizensofourcountry.Theirvictorieshavenotbeenyourvictories.Theirtriumphshavenotbeenyourtriumphs.AndwhiletheycelebratedinournationveenrichedforeignindustryattheexpenseofAmericanindustry;subsidizedthearmiesofothercountries,whileallowingfortheverysaddepletionofourmilitary.Weborderswhilerefusingtodefendourown.

AndspenttrillionsandtrillionsofdollarsoverseaswhileAmericavemadeothercountriesrich,whilethewealth,strengthandconfidenceofourcountryhasdissipatedoverthehorizon.

Onebyone,thefactoriesshutteredandleftourshores,withnotevenathoughtaboutthemillionsandmillionsofAmericanworkersthatwereleftbehind.Thewealthofourmiddleclasshasbeenrippedfromtheirhomesandthenredistributedallacrosstheworld.

Butthatisthepast.Andnow,wearelookingonlytothefuture.

Weassembledheretodayareissuinganewdecreetobeheardineverycity,ineveryforeigncapital,andineveryhallofpower.Fromthisdayforward,anewvisionwillgovernourland.Fromthisdayforward,itspeoplelivetogetherinunity.Wemustspeakourmindsopenly,debateourdisagreementshonestly,butalwayspursuesolidarity.WhenAmericaisunited,Americaistotallyunstoppable.

Thereshouldbenofear.Weareprotectedandwewillalwaysbeprotected.Wewillbeprotectedbythegreatmenandwomenofourmilitaryandlawenforcement.Andmostimportantly,wewillbeprotectedbyGod.
